Sumer Singh Case Files aka Kaushiki Review : Story about 5 friends and thier Dark Secrets and A Joke in the name of Thriller.

Sumer Singh Case Files aka Kaushiki is an Indian Hindi Mystery Thriller web series directed by Suparn S Varma. It stars Sayani Gupta, Rannvijay Singh, Rajeev Siddhartha, Shruti Srivastava, Madhurima Roy, Omkar Kapoor, and Namit Das in main roles. It has a total of 13 episodes and is now available on Voot to stream.

The show starts in Ahmedabad, 2 months ago, and is about the five best friends, Ankush Patel aka Maggie (Omkar Kapoor), a spoilt brat of a billionaire, his girlfriend Aditi Goswami (Shruti Srivastava), sweet, smart and sexy, then there is Mritunjay (Rajeev Siddhartha), the smartest member of the group, Nikita Roy Choudhury (Madhurima Roy) and DK (Namit Das) both are party buffs. They all are enjoying their youth, free of concern or worries until Kaushiki (Sayani Gupta) enters their life. They are strongly bonded but soon Kaushiki starts to see others don't. They all are hiding something dark underneath, and then suddenly Kaushiki goes missing. Inspector Sumer Singh (Rannvijay Singha) is assigned to look at this missing case of Kaushiki and during this period, he gets to know all of theirs dark secrets and wrongdoings they have been hiding from each other. So is Kaushiki missing or is she dead?

The story is by Shantanu Shrivastava and Namit Sharma and the screenplay and dialogue are by Shantanu Shrivastava. Sumer Singh Case Files aka Kaushiki or say only Kaushiki was originally released back in 2018 by VIU but Voot released it again. So talking about the show, it's not good. It's not what we have not seen before. Five buddies enjoy and parties like no one (they say). How Ankush Patel got a nickname Maggie...don't strain your brain! He's a spoilt brat but also childish and naive. He's the son of a billionaire, who made a loss of Rs. 5 Cr. of his father and all he gets is a lecture from his father.

He's a boy with a big heart (innocent fool) as he keeps helping his friend DK who wants to be a stand-up comedian, lending him 10 lakhs like it's 10 rupees, or his girlfriend Aditi, who in one scene comes up with an idea of an app and she says that she'll be needing Rs.1Cr for funding and testing of that app. Ankush, willingly and gladly, says Yes Baby. I'm mean no one can be such a big fool...this doesn't end here, there are many more scenes that are just mindless and nonsense. In fact, the base on which the show is standing is a mockery of the show itself.

Five friends don't know each other secrets, but a newbie in their gang, Kaushiki happens to encounter everyone doing something that was not meant to see. So they killed her... I didn't get what was the purpose of the story. The show is nothing but appears artificial and contrived and the season finale is the worst kind of rip of from Race film where Saif Ali Khan comes out from the back, Boo!! I'm not dead and telling it was their part of a plan. The same things happen here. And that twist of Sayani, in the last scene, truly goes impactless. Hatred, Love, Deception, fraud...this is all about this show.

Sayani Gupta is a stunning actoress but it looks like she also knows that giving her full 100% to this role is a waste. So she hams throughout. Omkar Kapoor as Maggie is the same as Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2's Tarun. His acting has not grown a bit. Namit Das as DK and Madhurima Roy as Nikita are decent. Shruti Srivastava as Aditi is poor especially in emotional scenes whereas Rajeev Siddhartha as Mritunjay is reasonably good and Rannvijay Singha as Sumer Singh is a breath of fresh air, really, he's good and natural.

The cinematography by Jay Bhansali is good and the look of the show is fresh and clean. The production design by Namrata G Rungta is of high quality and the music by Sangeet & Sidharth Haldipur is not that great. The editing by Shaju Chandran is just good.

Overall, Sumer Singh Case Files aka Kaushiki is not worth your time. Suicide and murder and whatnot have been shown but everything is impactless as nothing feels real here just because of the over-the-top characters. Their actions are just stupid, like when DK and Aditi were taking Kaushiki's body to dump it, Mritunjay was recording this whole thing standing so close but no one notices. Well, the actors got the chance to show their perfectly toned bodies and are always in their glamorous avatar. The shows fails to be captivating or entertaining despite being a thriller. I'm ending this...just skip this show if you're feeling that you should watch it just because of Roadies fame Rannvijay or talented Sayani Gupta. This dreadful 5-hour show will give you headaches.
