Aapkey Kamrey Mein Koi Rehta Hai is an Indian Hindi Comedy Horror web series directed by Gaurav Sinha. It stars Swara Bhasker, Sumeet Vyas, Naveen Kasturia, Amol Parashar, and Ashish Verma in main roles. It has a total of 5 episodes and was released on 22nd January 2021 on MX Player.
Four bachelors, Nikhil (Sumeet Vyas), Subbu (Naveen Kasturia), Kavi (Amol Parashar), and Sanki (Ashish Verma), nowhere to live, find a 4BHK flat at low cost. The name of the building is Tughlaq Palace and their broker further says that this flat was built on a cremation ground. They are hardly affected by this news and are enjoying their home and privacy as the flat is empty because of its bad reputation. The four works in the same office and then one day Kavi falls in love with Mausam (Swara Bhasker) at the first sight. Sanki throws a Diwali party at their house and invites all other employees including Mausam.
Kavi is not a party guy and then Nikhil starts flirting with Mausam. Party is over and that night at 2:00 am, Kavi dies of a heart stroke after encountering an entity in his hall. A police investigation is going on meanwhile the three are thrown out of their job and Mausam comes to live with them as her roommates are not comfortable with police knocking on their doors. Soon, Mausam is possessed by Kavi and what happens after that, watch the show then!
The story and screenplay are by Gaurav Sinha and it hurts me to say that it was not what I expected. The trailer was at least good and refreshing but the series apart from some genuinely cracking scenes doesn't impress at all. The screenplay is very fast and so is the pace and the series is of a little more than 90 minutes, so thankfully it's not tiring.
There are so many characters and in the last two episodes, it falls into a sitcom trope and comedy of errors which bring laughs but nothing more than that. Everything feels so haphazard here, the scenes and the characters are beyond understanding as everything flies away faster than time. Still, Kavi's character is subtle and provides a break from this fast-paced chaotic series to provide some sweet moments, especially between Kavi and Mausam in the lift.
The supernatural elements are so poorly executed, it will make you laugh not that it is comic but appears so bad. The ghosts are no more than a joke here, who are fighting among themselves. It had the potential and the novelty to be unique and rare but sadly the chaotic execution fails to leave any marks apart from making you laugh.
Swara Bhasker as Mausam is very average here and Sumeet Vyas as Nikhil is no different from what he's known to do in his earlier works. Naveen Kasturia feels absent just like his love track with Tarini (Nimisha Mehta) which hardly has anything to do with the story and Ashish Verma as Sanki provides some comic relief. It was Amol Parashar who impresses again here, after Dolly and Kitty, as Kavi with his cool and nice performance.
The cinematography by Malay Prakash is very average, just like a sitcom, and the production design by Ranjit Singh and Prerna Kathuria is good and appropriate. The background score by Dhruv Dhalla is very ordinary and the editing by Prakashchandra Sahoo is not okay.
Aapkey Kamrey Mein Koi Rehta Hai is yet another below-average and unimpressive show from MX Player. Gaurav Sinha's direction is a mess and not in a good way. The series moves forward aimless and unplanned and everything is not well handled. This slapstick comedy-horror had the potential but sadly it didn't rise above its mediocrity. It was bad to see such good actors getting wasted here.
Rating:- 2/5
