A Quiet Place Part 2 Review: From Noisy Monster Attacks to Nail-Biting Silence, it delivers a Heart-Pumping Post-Apocalyptic Ride.

A Quiet Place garnered so much fame and cult status as there is something in this saga that makes it stand apart from other post-apocalyptic films and that is the immersive and nerve-chilling experience that A Quiet Place ensures to give you and is strictly made for a theatre experience. But this pandemic ruined everything and I had to wait for A Quiet Place Part II to release on Paramount+ and the only thing I regret that I didn't watch the film on the biggest screen possible. But A Quiet Place is not only about the visuals, it's the sound and the world that actually brings A Quiet Place alive in front of you.

In 2018, A Quiet Place created box office records and grossed $341 million with a mere $22 million budget. From then, A Quiet Place is not only a name, or a title, it's a brand that now has the power to attract audiences and even the pandemics wouldn't stop them and the prequel film has been setting records since its release date. A family at the heart of the film which we root for so strongly has finally learned and discovered the strategy to kill those blind aliens or creatures that have an acute sense of hearing.

The film opens by showing a little prequel to the first part, almost one year back,  where Lee (John Krasinski) and the whole family attend Marcus' (Noah Jupe) baseball match. The whole city is there to see the match including their friend Emmett (Cillian Murphy) who is cheering for his son. But in the middle of the game, the people get a sight of something crashing down from the sky and the people start to leave the match but suddenly they are all attacked by hypersensitive blind alien creatures who possess extraordinary speed and strength.

Now in the present day, Lee is dead and Evelyn (Emily Blunt) and her deaf daughter Regan (Millicent Simmonds) with Marcus and a newborn baby set out to find other survivors. After a monster attack where Evelyn managed to kill that creature, Emmett takes them in for a day and asks them why did they leave their place? And warns them the people are now not worth saving and there is nothing left out there. Food and everything are finished. So now what will the family do to survive? John Krasinski knows his craft and he delivers what was needed, the story and screenplay are just an extension of part one.

It doesn't believe to give a wide picture of what happened to the world but rather it sticks to these limited characters and their journey of survival from these unimaginable. I would like to know who are these creatures and where did they come from. But little knowing sometimes creates more terror and A Quiet Place Part II uses that strategy to create ample thrills and nerve-racking moments like when Emmett and Regan finally battling off the monster reaches an island but the monster who can't swim washes to the shore of the island on a boat, is so smart thought to create havoc. No place is safe.

This time Millicent Simmonds is the star of the movie who gives a strong and believable performance and is now using her potential to the fullest and doesn't let her deafness fall her down. Noah Jupe takes a back seat this time and doesn't get the scope to fight the monsters but his performance is amazing. The minute where he steps into a bear trap and he just screams in pain, he is so amazing in that scene that it is impossible to ignore what a future star he's to become.

One of my favorite actors, Cillian Murphy now takes the responsibility of John Krasinski, not as the director but as a dad and what a fine actor he is. He brings an air of mystery and ambiguity playing Emmett and Emily Blunt is good at everything. Sound design plays an important role just like part one. From the tensed monster attack scenes to the nail-biting silence, the sound is what makes these aliens or monsters appear as the scariest killer I'll found in any post-apocalyptic movie. The cinematography by Polly Morgan is terrific, it's filled with slow movements and monsters sliding down the walls in the background, all blurred which perfectly gives the chills.

A Quiet Place Part II doesn't show the bigger picture as to how others are surviving this Apocalypse and the human killers but it has evolved their main characters and that's interesting as we start to root for them, especially Emmett and Regan, their track from showing them as strangers to friends or someone they can believe in, is heartwarming. The writing is smart, and the characters are not doing anything dumb that's a relief. In a tight 97 minutes runtime, it makes sure that your heart is pumping fast until the end where you might feel a bit disappointed as everything falls back to the same place but its good finally to see Marcus and Regan can take care of themselves by showing the radio, audio with high frequency, to the monsters, like a cross to the evil.

Rating:- 4/5
