Beehad Ka Baghi (Season 1) - Review : Bandits doing thier violence with no Entertainment!!!

Beehad Ka Baaghi (Season 1) : Series Review

Beehad Ka Baghi is an Indian Action Crime Thriller web series directed by Ritam Srivastav. It stars Dilip Arya, Laura Mishra, Parul Bansal, Ravi Khanvilkar, Jitendra Shashtri, Jitu Shashtri, Vinod Nahardih, Pranay Narayan, Tanmay Ranjan, Sashi Chaturvedi in main roles. It was released on 28th November 2020 on MX Player.

'Beehad Ka Baghi' is inspired by true events. The story begins in the year 1998 when the father and sister of Shiv Kumar (Dilip Arya), a simple man living in Chitrakoot, Bundelkhand, are killed by the domineering people of the village in broad daylight. Shiv Kumar immediately sets out to avenge the death of his loved ones and he wipes out the entire family of the village domineers. After this, he joins the gang of dacoits. However, Shiv Kumar is not like other dacoits. Things like his doctrine and helping the poor make him the leader of the gang and the messiah of the poor. Meanwhile, political parties want to take advantage of his popularity, which leads to arrogance inside him, and the story changes completely when he becomes a hero to a villain.

Mukesh Srivastava, Akhilesh Jaiswal, Akhil Chaudhary, and Ritam Srivastav has written the story and screenplay. A lot of films have been made on the rugged bandits of Bundelkhand. This time this story of dacoits has been co-written by Ritam Srivastav who has already written MX Player's super hit series 'Raktanchal'. With this series without any glamor, almost the same treatment has been done as Shekhar Kapoor did with 'Bandit Queen' and as Tigmanshu Dhulia did with 'Pan Singh Tomar'. Maybe that is why many scenes of the series will remind you of these films.

This show will also remind you of last year's masterpiece, Sonchiriya but sadly never matches that level of brilliance. It is written in a very straightforward way and is presented like a chain of events, which are full of unnecessary violence, profanity, and absolutely no depth in any of the characters. They appear to be spontaneous without any reason, killing everyone brutally and making example of it, will irritate you after some time.

Even if the writers want to show these violence, at least they could have made more and longer episodes rather than 5 episodes of 20 minutes, by developing every scene and adding logics. This feels unsatisfactory at the end and very confusing whether to like the lead character for what he has gone through in the early days or to hate him for his ruthless killing behavior. The climax is also meaningless and ineffective and seems like the director wrapped it up hurriedly. I like violent films and series, but making it bland with no emotions and no logic behind any scenes, then it's not what I want to see or anyone deserves to see.

The entire burden of the series this time has been on Dilip Arya as Shiv Kumar who has done his job well. Ravi Khanwilkar in the role of corrupt leader Jagat Prabhu, Indranil Bhattacharya in the role of SP Ajay Sinha, and Jeetu Shastri in the role of dacoit has done a quite good job.

In this series, Laura Mishra and Parul Bansal are in a very de-glam incarnation and their roles could have been a little longer. Vinod Nahardih as Doctor and Shashibhushan Chaturvedi as Lal Kumar are impressive and fun to watch.

The cinematography by Hari Nair and Sharan Velayudhan Nair is outstanding. The series looks visually attractive, the long terrain of drylands are stunningly captured. The production design by Jayant Deshmukh suits the kind of drama and the music is also good.

If you are fond of movies based on bandits and dacoities and like to watch anything in the name of fanfare then Beehad Ka Baghi is made just for you. The whole web series is of about 1 hour 40 minutes which you can complete in one go. MX Player is a free platform and if you know how to enjoy ignoring all these flaws then you can withstand this series after a lot of heavy advertising.
